Imminence’s “The Return Of The Black Tour” Enshrouds Orlando
March 28th, 2025 - Orlando, FL
As someone who’s been wanting to catch the Swedish metalcore band Imminence since hearing “Heaven In Hiding”, it was such a nice surprise knowing that they were going to be playing some of my favorite tracks that they’ve released. When this tour got announced, I was still living in Kansas City, and the moment I realized that I was moving back to the Tampa area, I just knew that I had finally take the opportunity and catch a once in a lifetime experience that Imminence provide.
Walking into the House Of Blues for the very first time, I was met with covered stage setups for imminence that were very reminiscent of the Counterparts “Heaven Let Them Die” tour I caught back in February.
Stepping up to the plate to set the tone for the night was Japanese metalcore band JILUKA. From the moment the band walked on stage, you knew they meant business and I think the crowd could sense that as well. Donning futuristic cyber-like stage costumes, JILUKA kicked things off with “KVRSE” which immediately sent the crowd into a frenzy. Continuing their set, they played my own personal favorites “KVLT” & “BLVCK”, unleashing a barrage of crowd surfers and a giant pit. Their performance truly solidified their place in the scene as they round off the last few dates of this tour.
Continuing on the night were one of my favorite bands that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing before and it’s none other than French metalcore band LANDMVRKS. Now these powerhouses really do know how to open their set and it’s no surprise they opened with their hit 2024 single “Creature” which only further amplified the crowd. LANDMVRKS are no strangers when it comes to commanding a crowd and it really shows when they play crowd favorites like “DEATH”, “RAINFALL” & “SELF-MADE BLACK HOLE” as well as my personal favorite being “Lost in a Wave” that opens with “I can’t breathe, im suffocating!” and delivers one of the best breakdowns I’ve heard.
Finishing off the night were the stars of the show, Imminence. Setting the stage with cathedral like glass panels topped with the logo from their 2024 album The Black. Now opening their electrifying set with "Paralyzed”, “Ghost” & “Beyond the Pale”, Frontman Eddie Berg donned a large trench coat and dangly pointy cross earrings further accentuating the stage presence and atmosphere that Imminence tend to bring to life at their shows. I was very excited to hear my own personal favorites “Death Shall Have no Dominion”, “Heaven Shall Burn” & “Continuum”. Imminence’s stage lighting was nothing short of ethereal with light shades of blue, green and deep red which made the venue’s atmosphere all the more intense. Each member of the band was as graceful as watching a leaf floating in the wind, especially vocalist/violinist Berg, who effortlessly did constant back bends throughout the night. Eddie’s violin was a main star as they group incorporate another string instrumental which only amplifies the musical atmosphere. Ending the night with the album title track "“The Black” was a key highlight of the night watching Berg show off his incredible violin & vocal abilities with attached mic equipped on his violin.
If you haven’t caught Imminence before, I highly recommend doing so as it was truly an otherworldly performance that I wish I could relive over and over again. You can catch Imminence on their headlining tour till April 5th in a city near you till they embark on their string of Europe festival appearances and U.S festival later this year such as Rock Am Ring & Louder Than Life.
