Cavetown, the indie-pop project of Robin Daniel Skinner — affectionately known to fans as Robbie — performed to a sold-out audience at McDonald Theatre in Eugene Oregon on Saturday night as part of the artist’s Fall Tour. Fans began lining the streets as early as 10 a.m. ahead of the Feb. 15 show. The crowd, consisting of fans of all ages, displayed a mix of alternative fashion, colorful outfits, and statement jewelry, holding signs and showing enthusiasm as they awaited the performance.
Opening act Illuminati Hotties delivered a high-energy set blending surf-rock and indie-punk influences, engaging the audience and setting the tone for the night.
As Robbie took the stage, the crowd erupted in cheers. Dressed in overalls adorned with cartoon flowers and his curly red hair styled with two small braids peeking out from the back of his head, he was welcomed by plushies thrown onto the stage, a common tradition at Cavetown concerts. He smiled as he acknowledged the audience, occasionally picking up the plush toys. The stage design featured his skeletal bat logo and inflatable spikes, enhancing the visual atmosphere of the performance.
He opened the show with “Sweet Tooth” followed by a setlist that featured a mix of fan favorites and deeper cuts, with the audience singing along to tracks like “Juliet”, “Boys Will Be Bugs”, and “This Is Home”. Robbie also performed a cover of “I’m Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket” by Pierce the Veil, sharing that it became a fan favorite after he first posted a YouTube video of it 10 years ago. He also mentioned that he has since developed a relationship with the band.
Between songs, Robbie spoke to the audience, encouraging introverted fans to “allow someone to love you.” He reflected on his teenage years, recalling how he often struggled to let others in and spent many hours sulking. Before performing “Frog”, he shared that the song was inspired by a conversation where he jokingly said, “What if GF and BF stood for girl frog and boy frog? And what if that were us?” In response, fans tossed two Build-A-Bear frogs onto the stage, which he picked up and held while laughing.
The show concluded with “Devil Town,” where Robbie played electric guitar while moving across the stage. The audience joined in, dancing and singing along as the performance came to an energetic close.
As part of the tour, $1 from every ticket sold was donated to support children and families in Gaza.
With a well-balanced setlist, an engaging stage presence, and strong audience interaction, Cavetown’s Eugene performance brought together fans for a night of music and connection in a sold-out venue.
